13th Annual Kezar Falls Lilac Festival

|
The event will kick off with a Pancake Breakfast 7:00 AM– 9:30 AM at the Riverside United Methodist Church. Breakfast tickets are $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for children 10 and younger. Free for a child 6 and younger.
A Bike and Doll Carriage Parade will follow at 9:30 AM. The staging area will be across from the Church. The Kezar Falls Fire Department and the Lilac Festival Queen will lead the parade from the Porter side, across the Ossipee River Bridge and end on the Parsonsfield side. Helmets are required for bicycle riders.
Activities and vendors will be featured in the green spaces on both sides of the river from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM., including artisans, crafters, food concessions, yard sales, informational materials from non-profits and plant sales, including lilacs.
Other activities are:
- Walking Tour of historic village homes
- Book Sale at the Kezar Falls Library
- Open House @ the History House
- Magic Show free for all children
- Pick-up Softball Game
- Fishing Demonstration on the Ossipee River
- “Battle of the Bands” adjacent to Kezar Falls Hardware throughout the day
A Chicken BBQ at the Fire Barn from 4:30 PM– 6:30 PM will conclude the Lilac Festival. Tickets may be purchased @ the door for $8.00 and $5.00 for children 10 & younger.
All events are FREE except for where noted. Proceeds are used for community beautification projects.

Casco Bay Concert Band
The Casco Bay Concert Band (CBCB), a non-profit organization of about 70 adult musicians
under the direction of Dr. Peter Martin. Band members come from various musical backgrounds, professions, and localities
from all around Casco Bay. They perform a wide variety of music that is appealing to all ages. The Metropolitan Wind
Ensemble of Boston recognizes top community bands in New England, and has invited Casco Bay Concert Band to perform every
year at the Boston Festival of Bands at Faneuil Hall. This band will fill our bandstand and the ground around it!
They are an amazing group of musicians and we are thrilled to have them kick off our Summer Bandstand Series!
Please come join us for this night of wonderful music.

Portland Jazz Orchestra
The Portland Jazz Orchestra is a contemporary big band staffed by local and regional jazz professionals.
Playing music from the libraries of big bands such as The Count Basie Orchestra, The Duke Ellington Orchestra and
The Woody Herman Orchestra, the PJO also enjoys performing more contemporary big band literature.
In addition to performing the music ensembles such as Gordon Goodwin>s Big Phat Band and the Tom Kubis Big Band,
PJO focuses on performing original compositions and arrangements written by band members. Many of these compositions
are published and are highly regarded on a national level. Trombonist, Dr. Chris Oberholtzer, is the artistic director
of the PJO in addition to being the Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Southern Maine School of Music.

The Common Ground Band - Chuck McLaughlin, Marty Mathews, Peter Albert, Marc Lerman. The Common Ground band has performed
at the Riverbank Park Gazebo in Westbrook, ME, the Gorham Maine Bandstand Series and at Hay Day in Farmington, NH.
They are a fun group that performs music from several decades that include rock and roll and soft rock. Dance the night away!

JimmyJo & the Jumbol'Ayuhs hails from the "bayous" of coastal Maine. Based in Phippsburg, the Jumbol'Ayuhs serve up music
from Cajun Louisiana with a Downeast accent. Featuring Jim Joseph on accordion, second fiddle, and vocals, and Pam Weeks
on lead fiddle and vocals, the Jumbol'Ayuhs play lively two-steps and waltzes that tug at your heartstrings.
Bill Olson on guitar, Elna Joseph on bass, and Keith Garovoy on percussion round out the sound and provide the bottom end

Twelveth Anniversary Cornish Horseman's Day |
Local and non-local harness racing enthusiasts, horsemen and horsewomen have applauded this popular annual event. Attendance has grown significantly every year. It is a day of fun for everyone and many amateur horsemen and women are given the chance to try their skills at harness racing.
This year's event will benefit the Cornish Fairgrounds Restoration Fund.

Cornish Apple Festival |
Each year, this FREE festival is held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the center of Cornish village in historic Thompson Park and features this season’s apples, freshly pressed cider and other products from local growers, Crafts from New England Artisans, and local musicians.
Volunteers Needed
We need your help with the 21st Annual Apple Festival on September 25th, 2010. All we are asking is 1 to 2 hours of your time for any of the following:
- 5K Running Race Spotter. This position requires you to arrive early on September 26th. You will be told where you will be posted to help guide the runners to the next turn of the race.
- CAB booth help. Because most of us have a business to run during the Apple Festival, we are asking for volunteer CAB member who's business is closed on Saturday to sign up at the booth to help sell items.

It was a chilly day in March of 1851 when a few local farmers and merchants got together and decided to show off their produce, cattle and wares to the community. Since those humble beginnings, Fryeburg Fair has grown to become Maine's largest agricultural fair complete with six days of harness racing, a farm museum second to none, the world's largest steer and oxen show and a reputation known throughout North America. |

This event is held the last Sunday of April or the first Sunday in May. Cornish Association of Businesses (CAB) created this event to help market any local area business that is just opening or who is featuring a re-opening, expansion, new merchandise, new location, etc. CAB provides food and entertainment as well as marketing of the event which can be held at the featured business' location or another venue. Tickets are sold and an average of 50 people attend.
This event features:

- Catered food from a featured local restaurant
- Silent auction of local businesses' merchandise and services

The Cornish Apple Festival is a fundraising event for the Cornish Association of Businesses (CAB), a non-profit organization of Cornish business owners who volunteer their time to promote general business and community welfare in Cornish.
This event is usually held on the first Saturday in December. This event allows people to "buy" a tree light in memory of a loved one or simply to recognize an individual's accomplishments. A list of honored names is placed at the Thompson Park kiosk and an ad is ran in the Shopping Guide.
